Though a very observing person, Xero, born Shin Jiho, speaks his mind. As seen on screen he seems very lively and friendly, respectful too— Wrong. Xero would gloat at someone’s mistake. One of his hobbies include bragging and setting himself as an ideal to everything he compares. Crude languages frequently spill out of his mouth, paired with a smirk. Xero got his stage name from the word ‘zero’ which means either ways. It could be a negative, it can be a positive— But it’s not. It’s basically neutral.

Put a “◊” in my ask for a sticky note left on your fridge in the morning by my muse.
Appalled by how disheveled his room became, Xero exhaled through his nose, hands pressed upon his lips. “I told them to clean this, and all they do, is eat, eat, eat..” came the strangled complaint gurgling down on his throat. Xero knew he had to pickup his own slack, and the other member’s too, so without any other choice, he slipped some rubber gloves on and a cleaning apron. His foot swept a few crumpled papers up to the corner, unsure of where to start. “You know what?!” he bellowed, calling upon the youngest member to do the chore he had been contemplating on doing, and much to his hastiness, Xero had unknowingly thrown away something he had kept to himself: a small memorabilia of the days where he hadn’t had to ask his roommate to keep the place clean.. a note he had long left for the girl he once lived with, its adhesive now gone after being tacked off from the refrigerator.
“naeun, leaving for practice, to do list:
1) groceries
2) do my bed lol— your handsome&helpful roommie, shin xero”
✿ A frustrated groan leaves her petite lips at his response, he always does this. naeun should be used to this treatment by now but it leads her to be boiled up with annoyance by his childish comments. and despite her understanding this was a joke (actually, she isn’t too sure now he’s too confusing) it always manages to leave her huffing and pouting. she pierces her eyes in front, replying as soon as she can because she hasn’t left their conversation to check any messages in her inbox yet.
[ message to: my stupid fool ] (;¬_¬) i hate you so much. you know i’m not into you like that. hmph.
Xero sank down lower to his seat, his head rested upon the couch’s header. “Son Naeun, harsh as ever,” he chuckled, clicking his tongue upon reading the female’s response. Their relationship never felt so strained, yet they end up bickering, shooting retorting responses back and forth; it was never tiring. Upon slight contemplation, Xero held his thumbs back, looking down upon the screen. Should he send it? He wasn’t sure. It sure had been a long time ever since they’ve seen each other personally, maybe now she’s a bit wiser, a bit older, maybe something had even change physically.. Xero felt the uncertainty of the situation welling down the pit of his stomach. With a quick tap towards the monitor, he tossed his phone to the side, shooting a weary gaze up to the ceiling. He wasn’t going to run away and hold back, at least not this time.
[ sms—; sonaeun 🌸 ] in my own defense, i think i’m pretty hot, so you should too.
[ sms—; sonaeun 🌸 ] so…….. wanna meet up?
[ message to: my stupid fool ] … hey wait a minute!
[ message to: my stupid fool ] you’re just trying to joke around with me, huh? just to see me all flustered or whatever but i hope you know - it’s not working right now.✿ Actually, she’s being in completely denial. the shade of pink rests over her cheeks and the way she’s shifting around in her position on the chair shows otherwise. thankful, there is no one else around but her too. she’s reading through the messages once more, making sure she’s speaking to the right person and that she’s skimming through the words. her little palm makes its way to her cheek, giving it a quick pat to reassure herself that this is not a twisted dream, it’s reality and she’s actually reading xero’s messages correctly.
[ message to: my stupid fool ] i mean you’re okay looking, always has.
[ message to: my stupid fool ] yah! what did i say about calling me baby, you loser. ヽ( ̄д ̄;)ノ
Taunting and smartassery was one of his areas of expertise, and his usual target: Naeun. Xero brought a thumb up to his lips, biting down on its padding as he waited for a reply, if anything, the hand that grasps his phone felt clammy and slippery. It was observable that she other was always in denial, but maybe if he took it seriously this time..
[ sms—; sonaeun 🌸 ] did you just tell me i’m good looking?
[ sms—; sonaeun 🌸 ] ah, i knew it! you’re into me!
✿ She knows that when the nickname passes on the screen right when her vision falters onto it, it’s nothing more than a alias. sadly, it was enough for her cheeks to brush a hint of color over them. using a spare hand to fan her face numerous time to control herself because there’s no need to get flustered over one simple word. and when it’s coming from xero, of all people. taking in a deep breath, she’s typing away a message. naeun didn’t really miss him, at least not that much. wanting to check up on how he was doing currently is more important.
[ message to: my stupid fool ] i am but please don’t call me baby, you’re so gross -_-
[ sms—; sonaeun 🌸 ] son naeun, sometimes, a guy has to show the girl he likes how much he likes her.
[ sms—; sonaeun 🌸 ] …
[ sms—; sonaeun 🌸 ] …wow
[ sms—; sonaeun 🌸 ] oh my god, did i just confess?
[ sms—; sonaeun 🌸 ] oh my god, i did!
[ sms—; sonaeun 🌸 ] jesus christ.
Just as then, he shifted himself down the sofa of their recording room, his phone hovering above his face. A string of spamming messages was entered along their conversation, with Xero cackling to his heart’s content; they both knew each other well, and if his predictions were correct, the female was more than bothered by his sudden playfulness.. but it was only a prediction.
[ sms—; sonaeun 🌸 ] hey, if you’re wondering, i’m doing fine, i’m eating well (lol psyche), and i’m just as handsome as before. no need to ask, i know i know~~ wouldn’t want my baby to worry.
갸
하하하하~!!!!
Xero cracked his knuckles, once again exhausted from the tremendous practice he’s been doing lately. Hours before this, he also had to do some body conditioning, his whole body sore around the edges. With the quick ring of his notification alert, he groggily pulled his phone from his sweatpants’ pocket; a small scoff-like chuckle gently slipping through his lips.
[ sms—; sonaeun 🌸 ] hi, baby. aww, looks like you missed me, you free?
[ sms—; sonaeun 🌸 ] oh did i just call you baby? that’s gross.
✿She didn’t leave the way she should have. didn’t give the male a reason to why she disappeared that time either. she did it based off of how she will always keep her occupation first compared to those who were labeled as important. naeun is nervous, a little uncertain of how to handle this situation without him becoming more angry ( if so ) at her. words from their last encounter traces through her memories, picked inside of her mind and here she was. calling him with her fingers sinking into denim to calm herself down.
When his voice reaches her ears, she perks up. spine straightening with her posture as she pauses, listening to what he wanted to say and there’s a hint of playfulness she could never forget. “I see you haven’t changed the slightest bit.” she replied back, teeth sinking into the surface of her bottom lip. there’s no time for joking around, at least not when things are solved and well things spilled out of her mouth.
“Uh - hi, loser.” Playfully greeting with her head tilting, clasping the cell phone in between her cheek and shoulder. her heart is racing unusually fast, fingers fiddling over her bangs to ease her mind. it doesn’t help, she’s still anxious to how xero is currently feeling about her unexpected presence arriving in his life again.
Her voice felt so soothing, and all at once, nostalgia came running in. Just as ever, she was the gravity that kept pulling him down to earth. Mouth gaped as he was about to say something, his words were all of a sudden empty. Xero crouched down, a few rustling sounds heard. “..You’re back..” the main dancer croaked, weakly chuckling for he was blown completely off guard. It wasn’t like him to breakdown all of a sudden, but life has been a fast track, and if he managed to live a year without having to think about Naeun, or having any type of slight thoughts about her— could he last until the very end of time? Though the answer came in late, it was definitely clear and responsive.
In between the call, there was a long giant pause, awkward and sheepish almost. “About Chesnut and Naero.. They’re both with my family,” Xero audibly swallowed, his breathing trembling, unsound. He reminisced about how content those days were, and it was unbelievable how far apart they’ve grown from each other. “Look at you, barging into my life once again, don’t you know there isn’t a ‘welcome’ sign? No outsiders allowed!” Xero lightheartedly punched in, albeit his scowling tone.
Much to his resolve, he bared out his feelings, raw and sincere. “I missed you.. I missed you real bad, Naeun-ah.” he added.
Jealous messages[ ! ]
[ sms—; sonaeun 🌸 ] and are you upset that i had fun and you didn’t? you sound really jealous naeun.
<!— Today @ 6:38 pm —!>
[ sms—; sonaeun 🌸 ] no I didn’t, she was so noisy, can’t stand girls like her.
✿There were still so many people she needed to encounter, plenty of people who she needed to drop by. to remind them that after more than half a year of disappearing and running away, she was still here. breathing and alive despite the numerous attempts of others who tried to place her into the ground and label as deceased. naeun pulls through and she did it completely well without a trail of evidence of blood to follow her. she didn’t change, her jobs were still the same, she’s living in the same city she grew up in. business was more important but yet here she was, desperate to look for old friends.
And yes, naeun messaged an old idiotic friend who used to be attached to her by the hip. she wasn’t too sure if that number was his still or there was a renewed version. she texted it once, waited for a good five minutes and she’s starting to feel albeit impatient. dialing the same numbers and she’s pressing the device to her ear, a chain of ringing is heard and all she’s doing is waiting for xero to pick it up.
“Come on.” Groaning lowly underneath her breath, feet tapping into the polished floor with her behind squirming on the seat she placed herself in. “Pick up, stupid.”
Completely fazed about the current situation, why now? He asked himself. Letting out a shaky breath that shook his chest, sending shivers all over his body, he painstakingly gazed at his phone, its screen lit— a call incoming. It has been more than a year and a few months now, the last time they met was when around last year’s summer. With a drunken stupor, a probable and an unnecessary confession was made; leaving Xero to wake up alone, with heaps of embarrassing memories from last night, and a head-splitting headache.
In all honesty, he found it hard to believe that she would actually contact him. “Ever so unfair, aren’t you?” he murmured to himself, a palm propping his chin as he leaned out from his seat, elbows on top of his thighs. Yielding towards the temptation, Xero snatched his mobile device into his hands, the padding of his thumb swiping across the monitor.
And before any greetings were exchanged, he spoke abruptly. “Omo, omo.. If it isn’t our Naeunnie.” and though the person along the other line can’t see it, Xero’s usual smirk twirled upon his lips.
[ ❄ ] — Fingers linked together, Xero felt relieved after a whole day of rigid training and recording. His throat felt dry, legs sore from having to stand and dance all day; not to mention, dark circles were once again noticeable around his already ebony orbs. He stretched his limbs, extended fully while his back was arched, his tense stature gradually relaxing upon reclining against the sofa he was sitting on. Sure was a long day for him.
Ring.
With a buzz, he reached for his phone, eyes half-lidded as his thumb jumped along the screen— “Holy shit!” came the vulgar language echoing through Stardom’s building.
[ sms from—; naeun ] guess who’s back?
[ x ] ”I… have loved you this whole time.”
It’s been a day since he arrived back after his long trip. Still overwhelmed by the constant emotions that were bubbling up in the pit of her stomach. Mainly because she was still upset about the situation but she learned how to forgive and forget for the sake of both of them. Besides, no one didn’t enjoy having the petite girl wandering around the apartment complex in quite a grumpy mood.
She wasn’t too sure what was happening to him. Not really questioning it when he came back, it wasn’t her business despite them having quite a close bond with one another. Nevertheless, Naeun found him. His body resting on the left side of the door frame with a foolish smile etched across his face. There’s a familiar aroma lingering upon him, a mixture of alcohol and Tobacco. “Naeun-ah. Come here.” He chirped, almost too happily at this point.
Causing the woman to direct her full attention upon him, eyes widening at the sight only to rush over towards him. Arms wrapped around his center to prevent his body from falling over and collapsing. “Stupid.” Is all she could say thus far, because it’s true but then she wasn’t any better either, right? Placing one of his arms over the shoulders in order to drag his semi-conscious body over towards the bed for the meantime.
He laughs, informing the young woman about his night with the boys and she sits on the floor. Listening to everything, every word that seeps through the center of his lips causing her to force a smile on her own lips. Supposed she fully understands why a close friend of her own refuses to let her drink with others or on her own now. “You should have came, I’m sure it would have been entertaining.” Xero remarked, cheek pressed against the pillow with hazy eyes flickering at the smaller frame in front of him.
